This charming French bistro has quickly become a favorite for its stellar service and classic menu of French comfort food. The ambiance is friendly, boisterous, and unpretentious, just like a lively Paris bistro, but sans the cigarette smoke and the pooches that accompany their masters and mistresses to dine. Duck Leg Confit, Trout Almondine, and Steak Frittes are some of the entrees inspiring kudos from patrons. Save room for the luscious pot au crème or chocolate mousse for dessert. Choose a bottle or a glass from their comprehensive wine list and linger over your meal in the flickering glow of the fireplace. It’s a great, romantic spot to savor a stellar repast and the prices are reasonable for this level of fine dining. Petit Louis Bistro serves brunch on Sunday.

Mimi’s Cafe: A Love Story

During World War II, a young American soldier by the name of Arthur J. Simms was stationed in France. He was so taken with French culture and cuisine — and by a young woman by the name of Mimi — that thirty years later, he opened Mimi's Cafe in Elkridge. The cafe is based around the French idea of eating as a very social affair. The space is very open, with seating placed with a very good sense of French interior design. You are not so far from other tables that you couldn't strike up a conversation with another party, like Arthur J. Simms used to do while he was in France. Of course, they're not so close together as to feel cramped. It's a lovely cue to sit back and enjoy your meal slowly, taking in the flavors and textures of the food before you… and also the people around you!
