National Electronics Museum: Circuits of History

Even if you’re not an electronics geek, chances are you’ll find something to pique your interest at the National Electronics Museum in Linthicum, Maryland. From the first telegraph machines to the latest in satellite technology, the entire array of electronics technology is laid out in formats geared to a wide range of ages and levels of understanding. The Fundamentals Gallery provides a basic overview of the principles of electricity. Other galleries include Early Radar, Communications, Cold War Radar, Space Sensors, Electro-Opticals and Counter-Measures. An operational amateur radio station lets you get up close to the workings of radiographic communications. Enthusiastic volunteer docents are on hand to offer additional guidance. Admission is $3 for adults, $1 for children and students. The National Electronics Museum is open Mondays through Saturdays.

As part of the Howard County system of Parks and Recreation, Rockburn Branch Park is 415 acres of beauty. If you have an outdoor activity planned, Rockburn Park is the place to have it! Hikers will find 7.4 miles of trails that show off the scenic beauty of the park. Enjoy the woodlands, marshes and streams. If you’re into team sports, there are a total of 10 baseball diamonds, two multi-purpose synthetic turf fields, three grass fields, basketball courts and a playground. There are also tennis courts and an 18-hole disc golf course. If you can’t find a place to play, you’re not looking hard enough! Want to have a picnic? There are picnic areas and grills that are available on a first-come basis. With this much space to enjoy, you can’t help but have a good time!
